I am planning a new 64-bit machine for sound editing, and want to use ECC memory for reliability. This means using a Xeon processor and a motherboard that supports ECC. All set there.
But how (if at all) does Windows 7 handle ECC error logging and reporting? Are corrected ECC errors noted anywhere, so I can tell when a memory block is going bad, before it starts causing crashes? Is this a feature of only some flavors of Windows 7?
When ECC errors are reported WHEA monitors and corrects these errors automatically. If the error cannot be resolved then
it will be logged in the Event Viewer (Click Start > Right click Computer > Click Manage).
Hope this helps. Let us know the results.
Thanks & Regards,
