Well well...! just a few minutes ago i got freeze and for the first time when i tried with (crtl+alt+del) to open task manager, did not work! , tried to sign out then got blue screen with memory dump (which i was turned it off already because of ssd lifespan) . after that when windows come up, my GPU was not detected at all! then force to shut it down for couple min. then my GPU is back!

(i wish i didn't turned off the memory dump!)

when i got blue screen which was for first time in this build, did not get pic from it,i just remember was something about POWER_State_Driver....!

for the record: this windows was installed fresh and with all updated original latest drivers.i will enable the memory dump for the next crash and will share!

these last couple month (since upgraded to 2004) i have trying a lot's of things can be cause of that freeze. actually i have configured custom setup on GPU for maybe it's from that. well i just removed that and fresh installed the driver for NVIDIA and also all of chipsets driver (Intel) reinstalled now, also i have disabled the GPU too. Let's see the next freezing if happens!!! i think it must be related with some COM issues!

PS: also i should tell you that i am with microsoft since DOS v2.5 , would you guess how many years can be ;)

michamma i think you are right about USB Power Option!

I'm just trying to find the exact reason that maybe Help , but i don't have much time and i should get back to work as soon as possible, the only right way for me and my customers is that return to the safe point which is build 1909! stable and without any of issues.

Suggest to Microsoft: This is my first and last Request from you, Just return the old way driver update "Directly" from Device Manager!!!

Best Regards!

Hello,

I've also had 3 random "freezes", where system hangs and becomes more and more unresponsive until a hard reset is needed, since the 2004 update I installed on the 30th of September. I have an intel 6800k cpu. I'm also running a raid and have the intel rapid storage drivers up. I also noticed that the intel turbo boost v. 3 started popping up after the update, which I have somehow successfully disabled in the previous version, but don't really remember how. I'd like to blame the intel turbo boost software, but it seems far fetched, I've had also disabled it from the software itself on the new version. All three crashes happened after system sleep.

Today I rolled back to the previous version I had - 1903. I used msft's hide show update tool to hide the 2004 feature update. It remains to be seen whether the problem is fixed, but I'd wager that it is. The question now is when would it be safe to update back to the current windows version :D?

EDIT 1: Second day after rollback, so far so good. Knock on wood :D. I also wanted to add that 1903 has been very stable for me. I've had 1 or 2, can't remember exactly, crashes this year. Meanwhile my uptime has been huge with working from home and gaming; I let it sleep at night and only restart on updates and such.

EDIT 2: I'd like to report that it has been 8 days since rolling back and have had no issues since.

EDIT 3: It's been nearly 2 months since rolling back and I've had no freezes/crashes. I guess the problem has been pretty clearly identified as being within the 2004 update.

I've had freezes on an AMD CPU but not my XPS 15 laptot with an intel, but since some people reported they also had this issue with an Intel, I guess it's not the problem.

I can also add that my XPS 15 has Intel Raid technology enabled (even thought I'm not using a RAID, just a single NVMe).

I'm still on 1909 which is from far the most stable version of W10 I've tried.

Still waiting the 2004 to work since I like some features of it (and VMWare requires it when Hyper-V is enabled).

in meanwhile I can also again activate the

"- usb energy setting "

and all works just fine.

I assume main issue for random reboots was just the Intel Driver.
