windows 10 overheating

Hi

I have the same problem with my Lenovo Ideapad Z500. since I upgraded my OS to W10 , it began to overheat.

It's interesting because I don't run any app or something and it just begin overheat and it's annoying. any solution ?

Is it still overheating AFTER you did a SHUTDOWN, total power off, for a while? My previous W7 PC (Dell Inspiron 1400) was overheating about 2 months before the W10 upgrade. I narrowed my problem down to the addition of more memory and always putting it to sleep rather than hibernating or powering off. So I built a passive base to provide air space under it. 

Your problem could be that this is the first time you ran anything as intensive (CPU and Memory) as the upgrade process. My upgrade rand for 1.5 hours solid, but I did not overheat. So....

1. Are you relieved now after shutting it down for a while?

2. I opened my laptop up (great youTube videos for my PC) and cleaned it out. Hopefully that was the real reason I overheated.

3, Download Speccy to see the temperatures for processor, motherboard, etc. and see if you are near limits where an intensive thing like this (or ANY large upgrade) would cause.

Hope this gives you enough to begin diagnosing the cause. btw, I used Media Creation Tool from Microsoft to do my upgrade to W10.

My surface pro 3, after the windows 10 update started to overheating and the fan start to make more noise. With the w8.1 I didnt have this problem. And I always shoutdown the pc.

I hope Microsoft doesn't sleep and correct this problem, a lot of people is complaining. This was very expensive to have overheating.

Anyone from Microsoft can answer if a patch is coming?

Hey Everyone, this is what I just posted on another thread. 

Not sure if everyone is having the same issue I was.  But I found that for me a process called "IAStorDataSvc" was eating up a ton of my CPU and Memory.  I did a little research and people said to update the driver or install the program, but do not install the driver, since it is useful/necessary.  Even when I stopped the process temporally, my fan speed slowed down considerably, then when I started the process again, the fan speed up again.  Not sure how, but after trying to update that driver, fan speed/heat doesn't seem to be issues any more. Sorry not an expert, just an average guy. Hope that helps.

For no appearing reason the systems just starts to overheat. How did I noticed this? The plastic melted.

The systems is supposed to shut down on overheating. It does not. No problems when they were running Windows 7.

I checked and there is a process called System which shows 40% CPU use when this happens, this is of course wrong because I tracked down that both cores and the Intel chips are running at full and are over 248 ºF !!!

This is just insane. If people die because a laptop starts a fire somewhere. You know it was Windows 10 to blame. And yes I tested this in multiple systems, all of them are overheating after installing Windows 10. Something is seriously wrong.

This is very serious. People at Microsoft should investigate this right away. Users reported the same in HP laptops and even Surface tablets.

I am experiencing the same problem with my new Toshiba Satellite. This is a pretty new laptop and I can guarantee that it never had spills or any types of accidents. Overheating started the very first morning after I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I am currently showing a temperature of 198F and this is with an external fan hooked up.

I was told by Toshiba that overheating is a hardware issue and has nothing to do with the upgrade but it is so HARD to believe. This is a huge hassle for me because I need this laptop for work and personal use. I was told to ship my laptop back but I am waiting for Microsoft to give me an option. I have application softwares with only 1 time activation key and wiping out my laptop data will require me to purchase activation keys again.

Windows 10 is pretty impressive, but this overheating issue needs to be addressed immediately!

The same thing has happened on my Thinkpad W530. I noticed my processor ws running at about 120% it's clock speed, the motherboard started beeping and the laptop died and would not post. Fortunately it has about a month left of its warranty so I'm hoping Lenovo will be able to fix it!

It looks like this problem is more common that a windows 10 overheating browsersearch would suggest....

It's a serious issue which needs addressing
