windows 10 hdmi input

HI

I have a camera (Nikon D3100 and a Cannon XA10) that I'm trying to use to create on my Dell.  The computer wont recognize when I plug the HDMI cable into the import.

I rebooted, updated the drivers and still nothing.

Sorry, I'm trying to use the camera to create video

Hi BrojoJim

The HDMI ports on your system are most likely for output only, this is true on 99.9% of PC's it is only on very High End Custom rigs that there is a HDMI input port

What is the Make and exact Model No. of your PC, and I will check that out for you . . .

Is HDMI the only connection on your Cameras?

Hi DaveM

I have a dell Inspiron 24-7459.  I'm trying to use my Nikon D3100 as my web camera because the quality is better.   I have both HDMI in and out.  I also checked to see if i'm getting a signal out from my camera by hooking it up to my TV and that does work.

Thanks

Hi

I believe your issue is that the hdmi in for your pc is actually only used to that you can use the screen as an external monitor for another device. The input signal doesn’t actually interact with the PC it simply displays the output on the screen.
As such I don’t believe you will be able to accomplish what you are trying to do here.
