File editing error.

I'm trying to edit a screenshot I just took and when I click 'Save' it gives me an error saying "It looks like you don't have permission to save changes to this file." and tells me to try saving a copy instead. It gives me the same error when trying to save as a copy as well. I never had this issue before until today. What did Microsoft change in Windows 10 over the last day and how do I fix it?

I moved the image from OneDrive into my Pictures folder and it still gives me this issue and looking at other fixes, I tried resolving the way they said to but all my permissions are the same as what they say to set them as. I haven't touched anything at all in my PC's administration settings or anything like that. I only have one account on my PC. It's a private PC. Just one day I had no issues and now today, my PC is being a PITA.

I figured it out and it's so stupid, I don't know what happened to change this.

So apparently. In the properties of the photo and a few other photos. It says under General, at the very bottom. "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." A few other photos say this too, despite the fact that all the photos it says this on all came from MY PC TO BEGIN WITH. So, despite the fact that I was trying to edit a screenshot I'd just taken, I clicked "Unblock" and low and behold, I could edit it and save it.... What changed and how do I prevent it from doing that again? Never had this problem until today.

Hi,

Did you transfer the files for a camera or an external flash drive onto your computer?

Windows blocks this to keep your PC safe from malicious files etc.

Or sometimes you might have to take ownership of the file so that you get permissions to edit it. You may not get edit permissions if you do not log in from the admin account.

Hello. I just got a new Dell Inspiron with Windows 10 and I can't edit any of my photos that I had stored on my flash drive. I get the same error message when trying to save them, both when trying to edit on the flash drive and edit the copies I've made on my new hard drive. There is no option that I can see to unblock them.

I have lots of photos on my flash drive that I need to work with. Please help!!!!!

Thanks for the quick reply. It turned out that the photo editor was corrupted, and I managed to uninstall it and get a new version. I appreciate your help though!
