Import notes from Evernote into OneNote 2016 for Mac

This week, we announced to our Mac customers the availability of a tool that helps you import your notes from Evernote to OneNote for Mac. The OneNote Importer finds any Evernote content on your Mac and sends it to OneNote, easily and safely. And we have a brand new article to guide you along the way, with more information and step-by-step instructions.

Please leave your comments and feedback below, and let us know what you think about the linked Evernote to OneNote article. While we can’t respond to each comment individually, we closely read each one and take your feedback seriously about how to improve our Help and How-to content. Thanks!

Best,

-Erik, Office Newsroom

The install completes for me, but when I run it, with all of the prerequisites (El Capitan 10.11.16, Latest version of Evernote, fully sync'd), it asks me to accept the terms of the license agreement, which I do.  When I hit "Get Started" I get the colorful spinning wheel of "hang"... and it never comes back (I have let it run for over an hour before).  Here is the info of the "hang" that gets produced after I do a "force quit".

Date/Time:       2016-08-21 10:50:49 -0400
OS Version:      Mac OS X 10.11.6 (Build 15G31)
Architecture:    x86_64h
Report Version:  22

Command:         OneNote Importer (Preview)
Path:            /Applications/OneNote Importer (Preview).app/Contents/MacOS/OneNote Importer (Preview)
Version:         1.0.1 (1)
Parent:          launchd [1]
PID:             31554

Event:           hang
Duration:        1.00s (process was unresponsive for 134 seconds before sampling)
Steps:           10 (100ms sampling interval)

Hardware model:  MacBook9,1
Active cpus:     4

Is there any trouble-shooting I can do?

Cheers!

Casey

Good day.  That won't be necessary as I was able to finally download a copy of the importer this morning that actually works.  Thanks anyway.

Great news!

Thank you for sharing. Would you kindly tell us what build/update number of the Importer you downloaded this morning?

On a Mac El Capitain (10.11.6), with OneNote Importer (Preview - 1.0.1) and Evernote (Version 6.8 - 453748 Direkt).

The importer insists that I deinstall Evernote from the Mac App Store and install the version downloaded from the Evernote website which I did.

My second attempt, using an .enex file (6GByte, 13k notes) will take 21h to import the 13k notes, calculated from the time it took for the first 100 notes. Is the importer really this slow or are there tricks to speed it up?

-- Olav

UPDATE (16h later). It stopped working at #801. I canceled. No notes at all were imported. Looks like I will stick with Evernote and wait for an alternative vendor whom I can pay for a working piece of software.
