Xbox One Replacement - Is it really new?

As I await the arrival of a new console, due to failure to read discs and a slight grinding noise, I can't help but wonder if the console I will receive is actually new or a repaired console from someone else who had this problem (or a similar one) before me. I see that I am supposed to keep everything that came with the original console and only return the console itself back to Microsoft. What is being done with repaired consoles? This leads me to believe that defective consoles are being repaired and recycled to gamers waiting for a "new" replacement. I might feel differently if I received a new console with accessories and all. Has anyone else considered this?

If this were true, it makes me think that choosing the repair option might have been the better solution because I know that my original console was taken care of, and not banged on as a temporary fix or damaged otherwise by some other previous owner.

Maybe someone can put all this to rest after receiving a replacement console?

Of course they recycle parts. But defective consoles are an exemplification of the degenerative engineering ( purposes making products that defect), which was unethically used to boost profits, but is now immorally used for massive scaled data mining which intrudes your personal privacy.

Now MS has verified your address, will be collecting more data and be making even more money off you.

Before I got my replacement I used chat to to ask and they said there was no way for them to be certain it would be a brand new console. When I did receive my replacement console it looked brand new. The plastic film that protects the glossy part was removed, but the warning sticker for the disc drive was still on it. Not even a tiny smudge or scratch on the glossy portion. I know after dusting my original once I made tiny scratches that I could see with a flashlight, but my replacement was flawless.

Hi there,

-

whenever you send a console for repair, it is either repaired or replaced. When it is repaired you will receive your own console back. It is is replaced it can either be a refurbished one or a new one. If it is refurbished it is basically as new since any damaged or broken parts will be replaced.
