open nat, still lagging

Open NAT dosent effect you while your online in a game, the best bet is to make sure the console is wired or close to the modem and try reseting your internet connection, also make sure the search preferences on the actual game is set to "Local"

In addition to what Jamster HD has said, it could also be possible that your son gets connected to a game where whoever the player is designated the "host" has a slower connection that other players within that game and slows them down, making all believe that the game is running "slower" for all but the host.

If you want to ensure the connection quality is not on your end, take some speedtest results from here and post them here. As for NAT's, there''s not a strong correlation between your connection quality and your NAT rating itself, but it is nice to have it open.  :D

If your whole network is slow I would think about contacting my ISP (Internet Service Provider) If you don't know what a ISP is they are company's like Insight,Time Warner Cable,AT&T,Directv. People who you pay for your internet. If this does not work try contacting Microsoft by calling 1800-4MYXBOX or chat with a XBOX representative by going to [mod removed]  Hope this Helps!!!! :)
