muted myself yet can still hear and chat

hi there

having a strange problem i was playing gears of war 3 and clicked mute players next thing screen froze with grey message box saying i was muted then it unfroze few days later i noticed when in party chat my speaker symbol had the mute icon over it yet i could hear and talk fine to my friends

 

few weeks later well last night i was on call of duty and where the mic symbol appears mine has the big red x over the mic yet i still hear and can speak to everyone fine

 

i have checked all settings and everything and no change its becoming quite annoying

i also tried unplugging my turtle beach and using standard xbox headset and bought another xbox headset and same thing still.

also when i unplug or plug in my headset the mic symbol does not change still says muted regardless if mic is plugged in or not the mic symbol never leaves

yes my friends have tested it with me in private chat and also party chat and random gamers in call of duty and gears of war forums all confirm that they hear me fine and i can hear them but they can see that im muted and so can i also my headset symbol doesnt leave even if i unplug headset on call of duty it still shows headset there and a red x. on party or private the headset symbol has a circle with a line through it

Intro: There is a known glitch where you can set your own voice chat icon to show muted if you try to mute the player right above you in the list and they unexpectedly disconnect from the game/party. This doesn't affect actual chat functionality, and we are working on fixing the issue as well. Thanks!
