- Disable anti-virus software. Done.
- Clear Windows Store Cache by pressing Windows+R and running WSReset.exe. Done.
- Refresh PC. Not an option for me; I am abroad for the semester and do not have access to my desktop application downloads.
This has not worked so far.
What I observe when I run the Upgrade Assistant:
When I ran it this morning, it took a really long time, but I ended up on a panel that said "is compatible" with a button to take me to the Windows Store App. When I ran it just now, about 16 hours later, I get a message that says "Internal Error: Error
running compatibility check. Check logs for details."
Another thread advised visiting the file C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebSetup\Panther\setuperr.log to see what was going on. I have the following error log:

When I try to install Windows 8.1 from Windows Store:
It always takes a long time to "Get PC ready for installation", spending a lot of time at the 51% mark in the update process. Repeatedly, the upgrade fails after hitting the 58-59% mark, which is when the compatibility check is run. The error message
I get is simply the error code (0x80070001) with an extremely helpful message that said something went wrong.
Any idea what's going on?
