DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE Blue Screen of Death



I have having random BSOD's with the error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (0x0000009F). Today it happened twice. Once the computer was setting idle/booted up. The 2nd time was after I rebooted to clear up the 1st BSOD. I then shut down the computer started it back up and now I await the next BSOD.

Hi,

Did you update all your major drivers and BIOS? Since Win 7 is a new OS its very prudent to
check for updates fairly often until the various device maker's have stabilized their drivers
which might take several years as it has for Vista.

What are the BBCode or Stop Codes? Did you check using BlueScreenView. MyEventViewer
and the Faultwire site?

Check this thread for how to use those to troubleshoot Bluescreens and you can also post the
relevant information into a message here.

When you say you caused them how do you mean and is it a behavior you can avoid?

Hi,

OverClocking is a special case since you are asking hardware to operate outside its designed
parameters. Normal troubleshooting methods might produce no real results as OC is a lot of
Trial and Error. Check Google for sites/forums that specialize in OC.
