Moving Windows 10 to new SSD drive

How can i move Windows 10 to a new SSD?
Hello! My name is Marco, I am an Independent Advisor. I will do my best to help you.

The first method is to reinstall completely and select the other hard drive, taking care to have made a backup of your importants files. Because you will lose everything otherwise.

Otherwise, you can install windows on the other hard drive, without erasing the first, to use it in dual boot, so also make a backup again just in case. At startup it will ask you which windows between the two you want to choose.

You can find all the necessary information here
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/400073...

I hope it will help you

It's easier than you think! Here's how:

You start by making an image of your existing hard drive. An image is an exact copy of a hard drive, compressed into a single file. Store the image on an external hard drive.

Then, remove the old hard drive and install the new hard drive.

Finally, restore the image from the external hard drive to your new hard drive.

That's all there is to it.  You've got exactly the same computer as you had before, only using a different hard drive. There's nothing to install, download, update, restore or recover. It's like taking your wallet out of your left pants pocket and putting it into your right pocket. Same wallet, different pocket.

Many retail hard drives, perhaps most, come with all the software and instructions that you'll need. (You may need to go to the drive manufacturer's website to find them.) Hard drive manufacturers know that this is the number one reason people buy a new hard drive in the first place, so they try to make it as easy as possible.

Once you've settled on the brand of hard drive you'll buy, check out the manufacturer's website to see if they post directions.

For example, here's a four-part instructional video for Crucial SSDs. The procedures will be very similar for other brands:

Hi Tim Corbett1, the other option of course is to Clone your current boot drive to your new SSD Drive using any reputable cloning software of your choice; if your new SSD is from Samsung, then choose the Samsung Data Migration software that you can download on line from Google.com or from Samsung.com?

Hope this will help

Cheers

George
