Windows 10 error 0xC00CE556

After installing Windows 10, when opening (as desktop is being displayed) I always get:

  Error parsing

C:\\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config

Parser returned error 0xC00CE556

How do I fix this?  I know very little about computers, please make the fix as simple as possible.

Hi,

We appreciate your time and effort for getting back to us and I apologize for the delay in responding.

Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. Check this issue in clean boot state.

  1. Press Windows key + X key. And select Run.
  2. Type msconfig in the Run box and hit Enter.
  3. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
  4. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
  5. On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
  6. Close Task Manager.
  7. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.

Note: After clean boot troubleshooting step, follow the section "How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot" in the provided link to return your computer to Normal startup mode.

If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to assist you.

Hi all, I also had this issue after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, I tried all the suggestions below but none helped, at one stage I was going to restore to my old win8.1.

Recently I installed Zwift, which is a cycling program that requires an Ant+ dongle, anyway the error returned, frustrated to say the least, I finally spat it and decided to reinstall Windows 10, now no issues, when I installed Zwift again I got a message that it needed Microsoft.Net/Framework ??? which it installed and all is OK, all the programs I had the issue with now run fine.

I hope this helps.

Cheers Rob
