After upgrading to Window 10 Home from Windows 7, my HP Pavilion dv7 notebook PC constantly and intermittently freezes, only when connected by WiFI. The issue is completely resolved
when connected with an Ethernet cable. I am including the information related to this issue which I discovered with the help of HP Technical Support. I hope someone can find a solution to this problem as soon as possible.
The technical specs of my PC are:
HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
Windows 10 Home (upgraded from Windows 7)
Intel i7-2670 QM CPU @ 2.20 GHz
8 GB RAM
64-bit OS
Realtek Wireless LAN RTL8188CE 801.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (for wired Ethernet).
After spending several days and many hour with HP Technical Support, we discovered that the freezing issue occurs only when the laptop is connected by WiFi (wireless connection),
and resolves when it is connected with an Ethernet cable.
We concluded and suspect that the issue is caused by the WiFi Driver software being incompatible with Windows 10, since it worked with Windows 7 prior to the upgrade. An update to the wireless driver is probably necessary to resolve this issue.
Please note that the laptop is essentially unusable with WiFi at this time, and only functions normally and reliably with a wired connection. Thank you for any suggestions.
