Is there a way to have a Unified/Shered inbox for all email accounts

The biggest problem with Outlook 2010 is not having a unified inbox.

I have downloaded 2013 preview and there appears to still be no unified inbox option!

Is there someway to have a unified inbox or is there a real alternative to outlook that does this (as well as calendar, notes, live integration)

What types of email accounts do you have configured in Outlook? If POP3, you can deliver all to one inbox but outlook connector, imap, and exchange server require separate data files/inboxes.

you can use instant search to see messages from all folders together. See http://www.slipstick.com/how-to-outlook/how-to-create-a-unified-inbox/ for more information.

I have 2 x live accounts, 1 x yahoo account, 3x gmail accounts (my isp - VirginMedia- uses the gmail interface.)

I have tried the search folder option but that still only allows searches within one account.

Not search folder, instant search - it can do all mailboxes.

You'd need to use POP3 and deliver everything to one mailbox to have a true universal inbox - this is possible with the live and gmail accounts, yahoo supports pop3 for paid accounts. http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/outlook-2010/deliver-pop3-accounts-to-one-folder-in-outlook-2010/  One drawback to this method: if you leave mail on the server, outlook sometimes chokes and re-downloads mail from the non-default accounts.

Thanks Diane.

Could you point me in the direction on how to pop my live accounts. I know I can do it with my gmail based system.

Is there a way to ask the office/ outlook team to add a feature?

Is there a way to write a macro so that the instant search could look like a folder in favourite?

The server settings for live accounts are here - http://www.slipstick.com/addins/services/online-services-in-outlook/

No, afaik, there is no way to use a macro to make instant search look like a folder in favorites.

what feature do you want? If a search folder that works on all accounts, we're asked... they have not yet done it. :(

Ok.

This isn't very satisfactory. I am struggling with Outlook now I want multi platform access to my data which I want held in the cloud (I have bought Skydrive space).

I can't sync Outlook 2010/2013 to Outlook.com (hotmail calendar).

I can't have 1 inbox to view all my emails in one place.

So what is the differance between 2010 & 2013 apart from looking very 1980s?

Looking at previous items these were both quite large wanted items in office 2010, Glad to see the feedbacl loop is working well!?

I got the pop accounts to deliver to the single PST which was nearly what I wanted.

I am now playing with 2013 as I didn't realise it used actsync exchange thingy whatsit.

I now have my live accounts delivering to ost files. I think gmail (virginmedia) may also be working?!.

Is there a way to get these to use 1 OST file?

That could be what I need

I'm using a macro to give me a sort of unified inbox

Sub UnifiedInbox()
 Dim myOlApp As New Outlook.Application
txtSearch = "folder:Inbox received: (this week)"
 myOlApp.ActiveExplorer.Search txtSearch, olSearchScopeAllFolders
 Set myOlApp = Nothing
 End Sub

How do I add lines to also include flagged items?

I tried replacing this week with in the last 7 days but it didn't give true results. using the inbuilt last 7 days search worked.

Any ideas?

The last 7 days works in the filter dialogs but not in VBA code.  You need to use something like received:(>=9/22/2012 <=10/2/2012)

Try adding followupflag:followup flag to the txtSearch line.

txtSearch = "folder:Inbox received: (this week) followupflag:followup flag"

Thanks for a quick reply.

For the last 7 days is there an option to enter something like

 recieved: (>=(today-7days <=today)

This would effectively automate the search for past seven days.

For the flag search option, your script appears to search for flag item this week. I would like to add an OR statement i.e. recieved this week OR has a flag.

Another addition would be to list all flaged items at the top of the query results.
