NEW! Use Tap in Word 2016 and Outlook 2016 to repurpose relevant content from within your organization

The following message applies to Office 365 enterprise subscribers*

Hi Word/Outlook Insiders,

Starting 9/26/16, you can now use the new Tap feature to find and use relevant content from within your organization without leaving the document or email you’re editing. Powered by the Microsoft Graph, Tap surfaces documents, presentations and spreadsheets frequently used by you or made available by your coworkers. Simply click to incorporate desired elements from within those files. Content is pulled in with fidelity intact, so you can change table colors, add a trendline or legend to a chart, edit text and more.

Here's how this works in Word:

Click Insert > Document Item.

Tap will show you documents, presentations, and spreadsheets frequently used by you or made available by your coworkers.

Choose  on any SmartArt, object, picture, graph, chart, table or slide to add it to your working document.

You can learn more about Tap in today's blog post or in the updated community announcement. If you need help using Tap, see Find and use the content you need, when you need, without leaving Word or Outlook. In the future, we'll extend Tap to more apps, like PowerPoint.

Try it out, and let us know what you think!

Anneliese

* Tap is available today in Word and Outlook on Windows desktops, for Office 365 Business Premium, Office 365 Enterprise E3, and Office 365 Enterprise E5 subscribers.

I am not seeing the Tap Group within my Ribbon. I have checked the Ribbon Customization Menu and the items is available and listed under the Insert Menu, just not visible.

Anything I need to do to switch it on.

It appears in Word and works great.  However, Outlook is another story.  I have Office installed on 3 different PC's (all O365 First Release).  On one of my computers, I did see it appear on the Insert tab for a new email message...but mysteriously it disappeared hours later.  Has not appeared on the other two computers. I can confirm that it is listed in Ribbon Customization as being present, but does not display.  Bug?

Scott, Derek - Thanks for the feedback. Can you do me a favor and share a screen capture of your File > Account UI so I can see the exact build you're running--whether it's Slow or Fast? And are you using an Office 365 Business Premium, E3, or E5 plan? I'm guessing that's the case, just doing due diligence. :-)

Derek,

Did you ever solve this issue? I seem to be having the same problem and I am running the same build as you. Thanks!

I have had it show up in two of the three computers now (all same build) so clearly it will appear when it is darn good and ready (no ability to predict).

I'm also running current release, showing 1609 (7369.2024) , but Tap feature it is not showing up (e3).  The feature looks great.  Interested if engineers have any ideas.

I have an older version, but it says "I'm up to date" when I check for updates. I'm also a First Release customer.

Please advise. The Tap feature is something our business has needed for a while and we are grateful that you have released it!
