15031 broke Internet and shutdown. 15042 too

The PC in question is a Dell c521. Maybe this is another nForce problem?

Anyway, build 15031 installed fine, but my wifi stick (Netgear WNA1100, current driver)  failed, reporting a possible driver error. I could see the router and enter a password, but could not establish a connection.

Connecting via Ethernet failed too.

I could access properties for both kinds of connection, but could not change them; the cursor would simply spin forever. The usual remedies like ipconfig had no effect.

Speaking of spinning forever, shutting down or restarting invariably hung up on the green screen. Power switch still worked, though.

I've reverted for now, but I can update again if anyone has suggestions.

Suggest you download driver from link below;

Disconnect stick - uninstall current driver - Restart PC device - install downloaded driver in compatibility mode with Admin rights - Shutdown PC device - Connect stick - restart PC device - check system out for operation.

Already using it. Anyway, it's not just the wifi; plugging in via Ethernet doesn't work either. Amber connection LED and no connection detected.

On my laptop, 15031 broke my internet/network too. When I finally rolled it back to 15025 I discovered it used the same drivers as 15031.

In my case it would appear the drivers have nothing to do with the problem.

I have the same problem, anyway uninstallation of (any) drivers does not work too.

it seems some other problem than network drivers anyway.

after rolling back to 15025, network works again

You maybe using driver already but reinstalling in Compatibility mode with Admin rights may stiil solve you problem - did you try it???

This has worked for a few of my friends & clients, during this upgrade and previous ones.

In most cases it is because the wifi stick manufacturers are not updating their drivers frequently enough for all devices - especially if they are a bit old.

Are you suggesting that a bad wifi driver is breaking the wired connection as well as disabling the wifi stick?

No I am not suggesting anything other than trying to assist you to solve your problem, the main gist of your original post was about your stick, my suggestion is in line line with what is recommended by Netgear at link below:

http://kb.netgear.com/25065/WNA1100-Software-Version-2-2-0-1?cid=wmt_netgear_organic

Reference your internet connection erthenet, how are you connected? - is it via external modem / router? - If so provide details make, model, etc.

Please describe your internet setup / layout?

If you can not get it work with Build 15031 - you may have to stay with a built with which it works!!!!
