Windows suddenly deactivated - Now activating.

Hi,

There is an ongoing issue about Windows 10 suddenly being shown as deactivated. Affected users do not need to do anything as it is a known issue. Here is what was said by Microsoft Chat support:

Microsoft has just released an Emerging issue announcement about current activation issue related to Pro edition recently. This happens in Japan, Korea, American and many other countries. I am very sorry to inform you that there is a temporary issue with Microsoft's activation server at the moment and some customers might experience this issue where Windows is displayed as not activated.

Our engineers are working tirelessly to resolve this issue and it is expected to be corrected within one to two business days

Thanks to Sumit and Vijay_Verma for the information.

When I left home, my 2 desktops were running without issues but my laptop was deactivated .

Now at work, an old desktop that we used for inventory and running Windows 7 Pro it's also deactivated.

I can't imagine MS using the same servers for all Windows versions but sure looks that way.

Edit: I've been told that the W7 PC has been like that for a while so not related to this issue.

I just read a feedback regarding Windows Time service being off that applies to me as well, I wonder if these issues could be related. Kind of makes sense if both the PC and the activation servers are out of sync.

Okay, I have a question. I'm on the Fast Ring of the Insider Program and Donna posted that Build 18277 is available. Is it possible to update to the new version while this is happening? Would it cause Windows to stop functioning properly? Any insight would be greatly appreciated asap. I'm on VDSL and these updates take hours. Thank you.

Thank you John for posting this. This makes 2 issues for me now. Installing 18277 in VMware wiped out all my Favorites in Edge on my Host computer. Will start another thread on this.

Hi Lisa,

Yes, you can still install 18277 but I can't guarantee that you won't have problems. Another reason why you shouldn't run preview builds on your main machine.

If my post answers your question or is helpful, please mark it as so. Thank you.

What's going on here is that all the fourth devices updated from 18272 to 18277 had the Time Service stopped at first boot and found them "unlicensed".
Among the four devices (all Notebooks) the only one I paid a commercial upgrade to Win 10 Pro (from a bundled 10 Home preinstalled by the vendor) is the one presenting a more anxious and threatening unlicensed condition.
Hope MS, will soon fix this up and may deliver, as a patch or a classical update, a solution in no more than a couple of days.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Have you looked at the Public build forums it's a big issue people reporting systems won't activate, myself just installed Public build on one of my customers PC with a key it it will not activate, also have gotten calls from customers saying they need to activate Windows 10. MS needs to post something to the Public about this issue now.

Thank you John for the info. I see now to what you were referring in another thread.

Davy.

Apparently I will need min. 16GB RAM for Win 12 perhaps even 32 GB RAM.
