how did i play gears 2 for so long?

What problems are you having with it? I haven't played it in a long time but when I had it people were doing cheap stuff like bridging for host to lag switch in games. I thought they fixed all that stuff.

The only problem I'm having with it (when I play which is almost never) is LAG on top of LAG on top of, "Team Mexico gets host again!" LAG.  Although I may come back for some horde now and again I highly doubt I'll be playing Gears multiplayer vs.  unitl Sep 20th

gears 2 is the worst game ive ever played

There is a lot wrong with it. The speed of the game, the character movements, the hit boxes on the enemies, the crappy maps (seriously there were more bad maps than good maps!), and just the way the game feels or the mechanics of it. Everything about that game feels bad when you play it. There is a delay when you hit RT and have the shotgun. They implemented some tweaks to make it LOOK like your bullets are hitting where you shoot, but all that does is give you false security that you are damaging a guy with your lancer as he is on the run. I could really go on, but there is no point. Gears 3, and the way it plays and the fluidity of the game tells me that Epic realizes they effed up and they worked hard to fix it. Even though both GoW1 and GoW2 had major lag problems, the difference in the player movements and just how much more fluid (that really is the best word to describe it) GoW1 was compared to GoW2 is night and day. It really is sad what a colossal failure GoW2 was.

I mean it had bad problems not colossal ones, yea gears 1was good, but who ever host was just raped everyone.

i always beat host on gears 1. i always loved to be against the host because i loved annoying them because they could hardly beat me. gears 1 was perfect. hardly any lag, the gliches were part of the game and made it more fun and you could choose your map. i miss those times :(

whats funny is, you can tell how biased game review websites are based on, dun dun dun, their reviews! all these sites rode epics p3n1s, loved gears 1, so of course, they gave gears 2 amazing reviews as well, i think gamespy is the site that called it the "best xbox game ever"...anybody wanna tell me where they get their criteria for reviews? lol how long do these guys play an hour?

honestly everything st louis said is right, god the maps are so bad its ridiculous, even the remakes of the good gears 1 maps were worse in gears 2! how do you mess that up! lol, everything was bad about multi pretty much, i cant name one good thing...single player is a diff story but multi was a disaster..

gears 3 beta gave me hope

FearMe, I don't totally fault the game review sites. The thing to remember is a lot of the conditions they play games in when they review them. They get tastes of the games in controlled environments, and they base most of their review on the single player campaign. Most reviewers, by the nature of the job and the fact that they don't have time to become hard core gamers in one game, don't go deep into the online play. Quite honestly, I have mostly given up on game review websites. The whole thing is so main stream now, that they do pander to the big developers, but even more so, they rush to get so many reviews up that they just don't really even begin to scratch the surface of the game. The first week or two with Gears 2 wasn't HORRIBLE. But it was the honeymoon phase. All my friends were on. We were all playing together. We had a new co-op campaign to beat. Horde was a new and exciting mode. There was a lot of stuff Epic attempted to bring to the table. And on the surface, it was incredible. But once that honeymoon phase was over (a place where usually only hard core gamers get too) the game had to stand on its own merits. And it had nothing to stand on. Once the newness wore off, and the frustrations of the inadequacies mounted as you encountered them more and more, I had to actually make myself realize that I didn't like the game. I admit it. I was such a fan boy that I purposefully looked past the things that were bad initially. It was a new game that was "bigger, better, and more bad @@@". But quite frankly, when I finally made myself look at the game objectively, I realized it was just "bad" and I moved back to GoW1 for a while before moving over to CoD for a good stretch of time.

LMAO, GoW 1 was perfect? Weapon sliding, nanja jumps, crab walking, host advantage, etc. PLEASE people stop thinkging GoW 1 was so great!
