Dolby Vision - Blu-ray player app

Hi. Is the Dolby Vision supported on BluRay App?

I just bought a couple of 4K HDR BluRay discs, and I'm using the Xbox One X default BluRay app, but the Sony TV is not receiving Dolby Vision, just HDR10.

When using apps like Netflix and similar the Dolby Vision is working as expected, so it seems that's not supported by the BluRay app, this is a serious problem for a BluRay player nowadays!

Is there any plan to support it on One X? Is it supported on Series X?

Thanks.

Without knowing the BluRays your trying to watch there isnt much we can do.

I do know that not all UHD BluRays support Dolby Vision, they all support HDR10 (as its a free to use license) but Dolby Vision costs the movie studios to use. it.

Perhaps look at the back of the UHD box and see if it mentions Dolby Vision, if not its probably only using HDR10.

Of course the Blu-Ray disks I'm using are UHD and have Dolby Vision.

Dolby Vision is enabled on Xbox One X settings, TV HDMI ports are in Enhanced mode (4:4:4 4K/UHD HDR 60Hz), and the TV test (that can be found inside Xbox menu) returns all green ticks for my Xbox-to-TV connection.

As said, Dolby Vision works with all streaming apps... but not when playing Blu-Ray UHD Dolby Vision disks.

I got a response from Customer Service: no support for Dolby Vision on Blu-ray app on Xbox One X at the moment (not even on Xbox Series X).

They said they are working on that, since a lot of people made complaints about this issue. I hope it's true, it's ridiculous to not support Dolby Vision nowadays on a device that has been promoted as a valid Blu-ray player.

Any ETA on the Dolby Vision fix for the Blu-Ray app? One thing very disappointing with the Xbox One X that I didn’t realize until I got a brand new TV this weekend was it does not play Dolby Vision from disc! The Vudu app works fine and when I check settings it shows Dolby Vision Bright, but the playing a 4K disc (via the blu-ray) directly from the disc drive no DV. Which totally sucks because we obviously buy physical media to get the best A/V possible and DV is such an upgrade in video presentation. This is an known issue for MS and many have complained but no fix still after months is crazy!!!

I just received the XBox Series X. Unfortunately, the blu-ray play back is not supporting Dolby Vision. I checked the setting, and Dolby Vision is enabled. This is a major disapointment. I am considering returing it to Microsoft.

This is definitely disappointing. Sounds like Microsoft didn't want to pay Dolby licensing fees for movie playback?

Really doesn't make sense though, if future games will have Dolby Vision, but can't get it with movie discs and the built-in  streaming apps.
