Im getting an error message saying "Your payment instrument could not be authorized. Please contact your provider, or try a different payment option."
which is strange because i had just purchased points with the same method a few hours before.

Having the same problem. Purchased 400 points just fine, went to purchase 800 points and got that message. Attempted to purchase 400 points again and it worked fine. So tried to purchase 400 points once more so I could new map pack for bops and I get the message. Tried 800, changed cc info, nothing now....Obviously it is not my bank because I just made 2 MS purchases 10 minutes ago....

If you continue to have billing issues, call up phone support in your region (support.xbox.com/.../contact-us.aspx). This might be something to do with your account.
