Cannot play GTA San Andreas

Hi. I purchased GTA San Andreas from the Marketplace ages ago. I've recently got a larger hard drive so I've downloaded it again. When I try to play the game, a "Game Error" comes up, saying "The game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again". I did so, it still didn't work. I then came on here and followed the procedure described. I deleted the game, cleared my cache, restarted the console and downloaded the game again. Still no joy.

How can I fix this? Cheers.

For this issue it might be best to phone support to get a quick reply OP.
A lot of people have posted with this issue and so far I have not seen a reply that solved this for the person having the issue with the game.

If support do know a fix would you mind posting it here?.

Are you having issues playing any other Xbox Original games? Also, where was your HDD purchased from, and was it purchased new?

Checking now... ... ... It seems that I cannot play the Xbox Original games that I have on disc either. I did get the HDD from Ebay. Is that the problem? It certainly looks like an official one, I can discern no difference to the one that I got with my Xbox, with the exception of "120GB" on the side and a different serial code.

I think I know what the problem might be here for both of us. I (willingly) bought a 15$ imitation 120GB, and the stickers on the bottom are laughably fake, so if we both have a cheap knock-off, we can deduce the problem is the hard drives.

For starters, is there a shining, square Microsoft sticker on the bottom, or a bland white "QC TESTED"?

Mine is a nice, shiny sticker, looks official. It's a damn good imitation if it's counterfeit.

Unfortunately many of the counterfeits look extremely close to the real thing. The easiest way to tell would be to borrow a friend's official HDD, to see if the issue persists then.
