ad-hoc to stream video, without router or internetconnection?

Hey tunk,

Streaming media can be both fun, and is easier to do now a days with the console! Have you tried the steps from Stream media using Zune or Windows Media Player ?

Please let us know if any of the steps work for you, or if we can provide you with some further information.

The problem is that I dont got a router, and no wired option either. (Laptop is barely connected to a wifi network far far away) So I'm trying to connect the xbox with the laptop using a ad-hoc network I created on the xbox. But I cant get the configurations right, or something like it.. So the xbox and the laptop cant communicate..

Ah that can get a little tricky!

There's some information on connecting multiple console together using the wireless adapters, and I remember using the adapters paired with a 3rd party service known as connect360 when I had my first 360!

However there's a lot of updates that have pushed some of these thing to be obsolete!

Not sure if micorsoft has any information as to setting things up with what you have in mind, but here is a link that will show you the way to configure 4 consoles using the ad-hoc system.

Not quite what I need. I think the problem might be in the configurations on the xbox and the laptop. I think I need to configure Ip's and such manualy on both devices, but not quite sure on how or where to do it..

Allready googled and found that one, and tried it.. Doesnt work. Can connect the laptop to the network created on the xbox, but cant get them to communicate when i try running a Test pc connection test from the xbox menu.. I'm giving up for today, guess I'll just buy a router and set up a homenetwork..

I am having the same exact problem. I don't have internet or a router and can't get 1(saving up the money to buy kinect), I just want to connect my slim and windows 7 laptop through ad hoc so that I can stream. But seems like even Microsoft themselves can't get it to work. I have been trying for months now and am not giving up :(

I have set up an ad hoc network on my laptop sharing out my internet connection and it works well with other laptops etc. When I try to connect my xbox360 to it, it will see the network and connect but then it will not connect to the internet and xbox live when asked to do so.

Have you gotten closer to a solution?

I was having this problem a while back. I saved it by using connectify to share my connection with my 360 and I have never looked back.
