Java not working on Windows 8

I have tried updating java about 7 times now, and every time after I update I try running Minecraft, and I get an error... \

"This application requires a Java Runtime Enviorment 1.6.0" I just don't know what to do now...

I am on Windows 64 bit.

I am on Windows 64 bit.
Uninstall all versions of Java (JRE).
Restart the computer.
Install the latest versions of both 32-bit and 64-bit JRE 6 and JRE 7.  You can have both, yes.
 
JRE 6 64-bit
JRE 6 32-bit
JRE 7 64-bit
JRE 7 32-bit
 
After those four installations, restart the computer.
 
Get Minecraft from minecraft.net - save it, run it.
