Windows live mail error 0x800ccc0d after security update

Unable to send or receive messages for the Vertical account. The host 'mail.****' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

Server: 'mail.****'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0D
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 11004

 

Please note the host name was adjusted for privacy,  host 'mail.****'

I am on Windows 7, and have been seeing this problem with both Windows live mail and Mozilla thunderbird since the last windows updates came through on  8/18

I have ensured my servername and password are both correct and am able to access my email through their individual sites (the GMail account accessed successfully atwww.gmail.com)

 

I have Tried Clean Booting my machine as well as ensuring that my firewall is allowing both programs to run.

If you believe the issue was caused by a Windows Update, you can remove the update or restore the system back to before you installed the updates:

Remove an update:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Remove-an-update
