Hi,

I, and I believe the previous poster, received a pop-up window from (supposedly) Windows saying I should install the Windows 10 Driver Optimization. Needless, to say, I was weary about clicking download.

xhis is a rant about how vexing using windows has become. If you don't want to read about my problems, move on.  but I am not the only one I am sure.  Ive used windows since day one and was happiest at about the time office (word and power point did plenty and helped my advance my career. Windows was simpler, it did not come with every other app that paid MS $ to take up space, and finally the year or 2 before you bought Visio basic and pretended it was from Ms. , another 2 hours searching ends up in someone (not Microsoft) explaining why system otimization says 78% defragmented needs optimization, but does nothing when you click on it. This is windows 10. why are 1st answers all for another version?  As Ive said for years, 30 to 40% of my time on Windows OS is spent cleaning, fixing, defragmentig, evaluating and buying non-MS software to help me, trying to clean out what I don't need but not knowing what the MS names mean, etc.. I must be the only one. Since windows defaults to turning on live tiles I do not want, I assume they use zero memory or resource on my pc. Unlike most, my clock speed is just a bit over 2 and I only have 4G of RAM. My windows speed is s l o w. Not need to try to even attempt to watch a help video on Win. Now it tells me my iPhone is a problem (first time since my i3). There is no help for that and again its all for earlier versions of windows.  I want so much to like Win 10, and to find answers to my questions from Windows not individuals who are in some community, or 3rd party software. I just cant do it. I tried to let your new internet browser echo do its thing, but MSN is always wanting to be my head of internet, and my preference - even over Google - is bing, but I am lost now trying to figure out if its echo, msn or bing I should use.  why cant it just work cleanly by itself?  I realize I have just babbled, but after all night dealing with this and NO official ans from Windows 10 (and update continuing to fail, I gave to go back to a system that works and lets me spend 97% of my computer time enjoying my computers. Yes 10 was free, But after living through ME, Vista, and 8 and making it my hassle to upg to 8.1 I hoped for a tested version without bloat but again have a beta without answers (and sorry, I did not take the time to compose or dictate with Apple (has spell check) or Google (excellent speech to text with spell check) and cut and paste but I am tired and sad that it looks I have to say good by to 3 windows laptops and 2 desktops and find a better way -- if one really does exist.  PS  I don't drink but I looks like I do.  MS used to have a great spell check and synonym finder I credit with even more promotions for me at my company.

The original poster asked about the pop ups that are for a download of "Windows Driver Optimizer" app.  Your answer was for the drive optimizer, not Driver Optimizer.   Along with the original poster, I want to know if the Driver Optimizer a legitimate app?

This is not a legitimate program. According to Norton it is a virus or malware.

OK, I understand that it's a malware program.  I think several people are still wanting to know how to get rid of the pop up.  Anybody know how?
