Skype Translator no longer supported on some Skype clients - 22 January 2018

We're making sure that Skype continuously evolves to offer our users the latest technology. Therefore, Skype has been transitioning from a peer-to-peer architecture to a cloud infrastructure. Moving to the cloud ensures that Skype features such as group video calling, audio, and chat are available when you want them. 

Beginning January 22nd, 2018, users on Skype for Web and Skype for Desktop v7.40 and lower (Windows/Mac) will no longer be able to make translated calls or have translated chats.

If you're running Skype on any of these platforms and you want to have translated conversations, you'll need to upgrade to the new Skype where Skype Translator is now available on both mobile and desktop. 

To enjoy the best of Skype, make sure you are always on the latest version as we release new features regularly.

I have version 7.40.0.151. There is no option for running the translator within the skype application, nor is there a way to change the language for any of my selected contacts.

Yes, you are on Skype for Desktop classic which no longer supports Skype Translator.

I do not see that Skype solves any problems, it only creates new problems.
Skype translation worked well and everyone was happy with it.
Why should it be removed?
Without putting in place instead.
I'm sure many will leave Skype, and find other platforms

not many can figure it out, it's the worst one has ever come to Skype.

Strange that Skype can not inform users that they remove the translation so that you do not sit completely relieved without help

Hi, I have Skype 7.40.0.151 also where I was dependant on Skype to speak to foreign colleges. 

Honestly how is this an improvement to the application !!!

So everyone now has to use the inbuilt Windows Skype app instead of the desktop appreciation if they want to use Skype translation?  

Before people were able to set the appropriate language of their friends and when they messaged it was translated instantly. 

In the Windows Skype app you have to start translation each time and within a separate messaging translation group. 

I think you have the wording wrong relating to evolve and honestly is de-evolved and NOT "chat are available when you want them" as you have indicated. Evolution of an application is to make it easier and better for the user not cause more problems and remove a service that was clear beneficial and replace it with one that honestly doesn't work!!

this is simply another case of a company ignoring their users in an attempt to get them to use their product in a way that fits their business model.

you disabled a feature that many people relied on every single day.  you did this so that you can try to force users to engage in your "apps" model which is an absolute failure.

it is amazing how little you care for your customers.  i will be seeking a different chat application.

i've been at the wrong end of your customer destructive policies for too long.

The new skype does not offer and icon to do translation messaging Do you have any fix for that ?? I like Classic Skype with icon to do translation messages

it is one of the most complicated and intuitive designs ever.  microsoft had an extremely easy and simple to use design..  and they replaced it with a system that requires a cs degree to even begin to understand.  plus the decision to remove it from the versions that most people use proves very clearly they simply do not care about their users.
