PowerPoint 2010 Audio Recording Quality Is Poor

Audio quality seems far worse in Powerpoint 2010 than in Powerpoint 2007 when I record narrations.

Where are the settings to control the microphone level and the audio quality in PowerPoint 2010?

I already set the microphone up from Control Panel -> Sounds ->Recording->Advanced to be the highest quality.

I do not have any audio quality issues when I record using the Accessories recorder built-into Windows 7, so I suspect the problem is with PowerPoint 2010.
