After latest Outlook 15.11 update: POP email account - An unknown error has occurred

I just updated last night to the latest beta of Outlook (15.11 150609) via the Microsoft auto update,

and 2 of my 5 pop accounts won't sync anymore and come up with an error.

An unknown error has occurred in Outlook.
Could not retrieve mail.
Error code: -1

Doing some testing,  when I redo those accounts as imap instead of POP they do work.

Also, when comparing the settings of those 2 to my other POP accounts, they are setup the same way.
incoming (no SSL, port 110)

outgoing (no SSL, use incoming server authentication, override fault port to 587)

Those 2 accounts are hosted on a Eudora Mac-based EIMS Server, and from their client config instructions "use Challenge-Response MD5 authentication".
So I am not sure if it has something to do with that, as they did work before the latest update.

Any insight would help!

Similar problem.  I get a "connection to server failed or was dropped" error.  This only happens on one of my accounts. 2 others work fine and are set up exactly the same way.

This does not help. The same two accounts are giving the error message "Connection to the Server failed or was dropped" The error code for me is -3253.

These are the only two of my accounts that use a GoDaddy server.

I'm having exactly the same problem.  Creating a new account seemed to improve things a bit but only a bit. Restarting Outlook clears the problem (until the next time) BUT sometimes Outlook will only close with a forced quit.

This need rapid resolution.

I have the exact same problem and, like you, ONLY with GoDaddy email accounts. I called GoDaddy to no avail. They insist that it's the new Outlook update at fault. Very frustrating. Can't find a resolution anywhere.

I have problems with some our imap accounts. It fails to connect with the server. I changed the port from 465 to 25 on the outgoing server and that seemed to work.

I am having the same problem with only my Godaddy accounts. All others work fine.  I can retrieve mail from my GoDaddy accounts on other devices. It is an Outlook problem. Started right after I installed the update 15.11 (150609)

I've had the same error -3253 problem whenever I attempt to respond to an email from my iCloud account. The problem started with the most recent Outlook for Mac update.
