L.A. Noire Questions :]

Picked this game up today after hearing lots of good things about it, and needless to say im very impressed with it so far! Its not what I had expected actually and for once thats a good thing, its very different. Glad I bought the guide to go with it though haha its become very handy already.

The visuals are fantastic, especially the facial expressions and crime scene investigations. They look real haha. The only issue that I can even thing of is that the driving controls seem a little clunky, but its not bad.

But anyways my questions are that, Is there a point where it eventually kind of opens up into a free roam type of thing? Im not sure if you can during the missions but I dont want to mess anything up so I havent tried but I enjoy exploring in sandbox games so I know eventually Ill want to just explore the map.

And also seeing as the game is 3 discs i'm guessing that its really long? or is it just because of how detailed the game really is? Im guessing it switches to the second disc about 4 to 5 hours in and 3 about the same after that?

I am on the third disc, but I have no concept of time so I am really no help on your second question.

But the answer to your first question is:

I believe that certain story missions can be influenced by time. If you want to go the whole free roam route, at the main menu instead of selecting "Resume", scroll down and you should see an option for a mission select. Perhaps called "Replay Mission" I think.

This will pull up a list of all the missions you've played under each desk you've worked. At the bottom of each list is an option for free roaming. Have fun!

You can free roam during cases as far as I know it won't negatively impact your case but if you want to just free roam you unlock a free roam mode after you finish the Traffic desk. You can access this by going to "Cases" and selecting a desk you have finished then going to "Streets of LA" mode once there you can drive around anywhere you want, search for hidden vehicles, find golden film reels, respond to any street crimes on that desk, and find landmarks.

The game is 3 discs on the 360 because of the space the new technology they used for the game took up however the story mode is lengthy. I have one case and two street crimes left to finish my current play time is a little over 24 hours and I fully expect to play through the game again to try to get 5 stars on all cases and I still have the 2 DLC cases to play plus the other two coming in June and July.

After waiting 2 weeks to play it, I'm just driving around, enjoying the sites and "borrowing" cars from the citizens, to get closer to getting that achievement done.

you cant really do any free-roam like GTA however after you have finished a desk, you can go back and click on streets of LA where you can complete street crimes through the cases on the main menu.

I've still yet to try any of the street crimes I'll probably give one a try in a bit. They're basically like side missions im guessing?

I'll elaborate a bit on that.

Street crimes are like mini action oriented cases that involve doing stuff like tailing suspects, chasing a fleeing criminal on foot or in a car and getting into shoot outs, sometimes even combinations of those, like chasing a criminal and then getting into a gun fight for example.
