I had an error in which i put a disc into the drive and after a few seconds It told me to open the tray again. So I opened up my xbox 360 and took the cover off the drive to see what was the matter and apparently the part the disc turns on was gummed up and it wasn't spinning fast enough. After I did some research I took out the spindle motor and cleaned the gunk out if it and after that I re installed and the motor turns freely now. However, it turns out that now I have a new problem. Looking at the drive with the cover off, I see the disc getting bumped into or hit by something when its spinning and the disc moves around. It even got so bad that the disc fell out of the drive and on to the floor a few times. Either the disc is unbalanced in the drive, the laser is hitting the disc, or the spindle motor doesn't have a good enough hold on it. It could possible be that when I reinstalled the motor back in I screwed up the height.
Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.
