Can someone please explain to me how to turn off Auto-Renewal?? I've already tried to remove the payment option but since my XBL is still current until 9/2011 it won't let me remove anything. I am deaf, so calling Xbox for this is not an option. Whatever happened to the button you could turn auto on or off??

You can only call Support now to cancel autorenewal...that was done quite sometime ago. You will have to get someone to call for you. Sorry.

Yeah, it is, but that's the way it is now. And about your card: you cannot remove the only card you have attached to a Gold sub per se. You can put another card on file and then remove the previous one, or you can just let the sub expire and then you can remove the card. After that, you can buy a prepaid subcard and reactivate it. I did this recently with my nephew's account.

you don't have a DDT machine for making calls?
you do know that like many services that require a phonecall they do have deaf services if you have the correct machines
also its even easier if you have a friend who can speak on your behalf

This is utter bull if you ask me. We should have the option to turn off the auto-renewal from the website if we want to. Also we should be able to use a pre-paid live card bought from a store and still have the auto-renewal feature turned off. I preferred it the way where we could turn it off if we wanted to. With the way the economy is these days, the option to turn off the auto-renewal feature should be included on the website if not on the xbox itself.

you can
first off think of it like a cellphone
you have 2 methods of payment
1st subscription very very common among service providers from games and cellphones you get great discounts and free games and other bells and whistles like other services you must call to give cancelation notice
2nd prepaid membership cards they do not come with bells and whistles and you pay retail price and the occasional deal on amazon but either way its a set price
but like prepaid pay as you go services they are a FIXED rate and do not renew but you skip the convience that millions of xbox live users enjoy without worry about runing to the store
and stick with pay as you go
with every type of service there is trade offs

I agree with Heather, I mean its a bunch of crap if you ask me. Before we had the option to turn it off and now you can only remove it via phone, kinda stupid. And they still do the pre-paid cards I believe, you can buy them at Wal-Mart, GameStop, etc...I think they cost around 20 bucks for 3 months? Not sure to be honest, I haven't bought one since '07. As for the one that said about TTY / DDT... yes you're right they do exist but the issue with that is its someone else behind a computer screen telling that person what I'm typing, and if its personal information they need... that kinda violates our privacy laws. See, mircosoft just wants more control over our profiles which is understandable but they need to allow their customers more options then just one.

Not really you trusting the person behind the computer
As this is mandated by most services and is hoped you have a trusty family member
Cable cellphone water heat etc etc all require a phonecall even by people who have hearing issues
DDT is there for a reason to help the people who need helping
