If you had a Power Failure at your home it can give a "fake" 3 Red Lights. I had it once and it worked fine afterwards. That same Xbox 360 later died to the E74 Error but that was about two years later. in short, if the problem
does not persist, just continue to use it as is.
Personally, if you can afford to either Trade it for a new Xbox 360 S (Trade in value for a new one) or just buy a new Xbox 350 S, I would. The Xbox 350 S seems so far to be a lot better for not dieing for some reason.

You guys are so quick, so thanks. This jasper has been great so far, it's very quite and the fans never go ballistic. I'll guess at this stage that it may be a power problem, I will probably do a trade though. It's such a quite machine though, so that would be the only reason for my reluctance at this stage. I don't think there's ever been a definitive answer on whether horizontal or vertical are the best way to stand the xb as well

The only thing that really stands out with the Vertical/ Horizontal debate would be. Upright (Vertical and "fat" Xbox 360) has more open airspace for ventilation but is easier to tip over by accident. Flat (Horizontal), is stable
but blocks the bottom vents.
With a Xbox 360 S that issues is kinda a non debate as seeing it has a huge opening on the top and pushes out a lot of heat from there. My old Elite was sounding like a 747, so I simply decided I both wanted a bigger HDD and figured I would get an Xbox 360
S. It's been good to me so far and will be coming up on two years old without any issues this fall.
Just an fyi, I went through three "fat" Xbox 360's Consoles. I had a, Launch Core/ no HDD died due to bad Disc Drive, an Elite 120Gb HDD died E74 an Elite 120Gb HDD (traded in for the Xbox 360 S) and my current Xbox 360 S 250Gb HDD (Halo Reach LE).

You've had a few xb's as well? gotta ask about the quality of these machines. Anyway, played a straight 5 hours last night of cod and DA, no problems at all. Here's something I didn't mention about the crash, I was playing Dragon Age (old game catch up) when this happened. Anyway, when I hit the power button, the console started up straight away, When I chose "Dragon Age" It went straight to where I was on the game when it crashed, no splash screen or "connecting to dragon age servers". weird huh?
