Need help recovering very old original XBox Gamer Tag

if you put correct details on your account ie your real name, address phone number that would be a start thenyou need to answer the security question and/or supply the last 4 digits of a debit or credit card and then they can confirm the wlid. its all about data protection and they cannot give you the info you need without the proof that it is your account. if you get th info you need and if it is not a proper windows live id you will then need to get in touch with the windows live team and they can assist you in either activating that wlid and resetting the password. windows live team work through the forums on windowslivehelp.com

Well that's my problem.  The XBox Live name did not have any Windows Live ID because it was created and virtually abandoned before Live ID was created.  I spent an hour or two with XBox Live customer service yesterday trying to get things figured out but they couldn't do anything.  Kinda sucks.  As for the credit card info there was none for that account.  I used a 2 week XBox Live Gold card I got in a game and other than basic info that was all that was on the account.  See...I could prove it was mine but they can't do anything because their access is so flipping limited

As already mentioned, you will have to convince Support...not us here on this forum.  We can't do one thing about it.  I suggest that you contact Support again and get account verification email.  It is basically just an electronic version of the phone conversation you have had, but this gives you time to look for the info.

But to be honest, if you just used it for two weeks, I can't see why you are interested in it now!  And and I don't know why you think that a cancelled name becomes usuable after six months...there is no such official statement saying that.  Ms is in the process of freeing up GTs that have been used, but that just started in the last two months.  And they have not really given any info as to the criteria they use to determine why GTs become usuable again.

I also don't know why you think no on else has your old GT.  When I made this one up in October, 2003, I had to go thru a few variations because the words RED SHIFT had were already in the system even just one year after Live started up.

Hmm thought I had read something about that a few years ago.  Maybe I misread.  As for knowing that the other gamertag of PsykoGamer is still under my name is because they told me it was lol.  It still has all my information from when I first created it only it has no LiveID name and password.  I did use the same email I have now but there was no login password so according to them that means no recovery so I can just change that name or delete it or whatever.

The reason why I had to create this one as ThePsykoGamer is because the original Xbox wouldn't let me access my credit card information to upgrade to Live Gold.  I actually preferred the name but couldn't do anything with it after a certain amount of time.  Sucks but I guess that's life lol.

You are going to need to contact phone support about your account recovery options, but if you don't have enough info to regain access to the account, the forums won't be able to help you any more than phone support.
