If the console is under 12 months old the repair is free. Over that however and it'll cost £62 or $99 if you arrange the repair over the internet. £75 or $119 if you arrange the repair over the phone.

Edit: If it is under 12 months old, then you could try returning it to the retailer for an exchange. I wouldn't mention the toddler part of the story though.

Thank you, but i failed to mention that i have tried to fix the tray myself and have broken the 'seal'.

I will have to bite the bullet and pay the repair bill myself.

That is correct. If the seal is broken, it means that the warranty is voided. Microsoft will not repair it.
