"Windows Live Mail has stopped working" "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I am using Windows Live Mail on Windows 7. I am able to receive emails, but when I try to send an email, I receive a dialog box stating that "Windows Live Mail has stopped working"  "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will  close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  But I never receive a solution.

I tried to open the event log but received an error, "MMC could not create the snap-in." I don't know what else to try.

Thanks for your reply. I ran the System File Checker and it found some corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Do you need to see the log file?
