Windows Update "Application not Found"

When requesting windows update from control panel it indicates that the "application not found"  4 security updates keep being loaded every time I turn computer on and then forces another install when I shut down  Error code 0x8000706BE.  The security updates that keep reinstalling are KB2633880; KB2656352; KB2572073; and KB25188864.

I am not high on the list of "Computer Literacy", so do not understand complex answers.

Thanks

As long as...

(a) KB2656352, KB2572073, KB2633880 & KB2518864 are all listed in Add/Remove Programs; [1] and

(b) None of them are currently being offered by Automatic Update, you can...

(c) Run another CUSTOM scan at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com & proceed to uncheck then hide each of them ("Don't show me this update again").

[1] e.g., Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (KB2656352), etc.

[You may want to print these instructions for offline reference. If a Step says to reboot, reboot! ]

1. Right-click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool, saving it to your desktop:  ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

2. Close all open applications (i.e., anything with an icon on the taskbar).

3. Restore ALL 'Little Registry Cleaner' backups & reboot.

4. Double-click on the file you saved in #1 above to run the utility. Don't TOUCH your keyboard until the run completes, then reboot again.

5. Open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the Fix It.

Note=> For optimal results, check the Delete personal settings option.

6a. IMPORTANT - DON'T SKIP THIS STEP! => Open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336 [ignore the title & Symptoms].

6b. Dismiss/close the automated troubleshoot pop-up; then...

6c. Run Fix It 50202 in DEFAULT and then AGGRESSIVE modes. [1]

7. Reboot once more.

8. Open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com | Select CUSTOM and scan | See if you can install any/all security updates offered now (e.g., KB2633880; KB2656352; KB2572073; KB2585542).

Note => If a Root Certificates update is listed in the Optional Software updates category on the left-hand side of the scan results window, install it to take full advantage of IE8's enhanced security. [3]

Tip => Do NOT install any other Optional Software updates or any Optional Hardware updates.

9. Reply to this post with a status report.

Good luck!

[1] Full Disclosure: Running the Fix It in AGGRESSIVE mode will delete your Update History but not the list of installed updates in Add/Remove Programs.
