You can create a desktop shortcut to a shared folder:
1. Right-click an empty spot on the desktop.
2. Click New > Shortcut.
3. Specify the location of the item as "\\computer\share" or "\\computer\share\folder\...\folder"
4. Click Next.
5. Type a name for the shortcut.
6. Click Finish
You can create your own Vista version of My Network Places by keeping all such shortcuts in one folder on your desktop.
