Cannot install Windows 7 service pack 1 error 0x80070490.

Original title : Windows 7 Pro SP1 (KB976932) repeatedly fails to install...

... no matter what I do. Error code Not Found 0x80070490 rears its ugly head each time. I've tried Fixit, the System Update Readiness Tool, and I've downloaded the SP1 manually and NOTHING works. Yes, I've disabled my antivirus each time as well. Here's what happens EVERY TIME: it downloads seemingly fine and begins to restart. Before it restarts, the screen states that it is installing SP1 and gets to 11%, then restarts. Then the screen states that it is configuring my computer and again reaches that magic 11% completed, and then fails. Then restarts again, reverting the changes that WERE NOT MADE! EVERY TIME the same thing. And it's making me want to switch to a MAC. Right NOW!!!!! What is the problem, and why is there one to begin with? Please help!!
