Before submitting this Forum question I have read many many forum entries at Microsoft (and quite a few at other sites) about this issue.
I want to use the Microsoft Backup facility on Windows 7 Pro but after doing the intial backup (takes about 6 hours fo 96gb) I want to do ONLY incrementals.
So far I have not been able to do this.
Everytime I run a backup it performs a complete backup, taking about 6 hours and 96gb.
I have tried different settings to no avail.
Is there a way to force the backup to only do incremental backups?
Please note that in a recent experiment I changed ONE file and started a new backup using the same settings and it did a full backup (6 hours, 96gb).
This is not workable.
I know from reading all those other posts that many many people have had the same problem.
It is especially troublesome since on my previous computer (XpSp3) the older backup system worked exactly as one would expect. The new backup seems to be a definite step back in time.
The new backup system on Win7 does not even have the concept of projects. On the XpSp3 backup one could establish any number of separate backup projects and as part of the project specify whether one wanted a Full or Incremental.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
