0xc00d11d1 (0x8007007e) windows 8.1 update

I can no longer use the xbox music app to listen to music that I have on my hard drive.  No sound plays, and I get this error "0xc00d11d1 (0x8007007e)".  I just installed the update to 8.1 and this started happening.  I can hear sounds if I go on the internet, or any notifications play sound too, but I can't play any music.  I can see all the music in the folder, but I don't know why it doesn't work. Help!!!!

Hey guys...

I too had this problem since upgrading to 8.1 yesterday.  I ended up fixing it myself (by fluke).  It was a problem with the "Enhancements" settings of my Conexant SmartAudio HD device.  I had regular Windows sounds and online video sound (ie:  Youtube) but my local media wouldn't play (ie:  Xbox Music app or Plex video).  Here's how I fixed it...

1. Right click the Speaker icon in your Desktop's system tray and select "Playback devices".

2. In the Sound dialog box that pops up, select your "Speakers" playback device and click the "Properties" button near the bottom left of the window.

3. Under the "Enhancements" tab, check the "Disable all enhancements" checkbox and click "Apply" at the bottom of the window.

As soon as I disabled all enhancements, my local MP3's played through the Xbox Music app and my local movie collection played through the Plex app perfectly.

Hope this helps you guys out too.  Good luck!
