Cannot Access Remote Desktop Connection from my MAC?

Hello I am having an issue connecting to RDC on my MAC, I have Microsoft Office Home & Student for Mac 2011, When I connect to RDC I get the following message ....

Remote Desktop Connection cannot verify the identity of the computer that you want to connect to.Try reconnecting to the Windows-based computer, or contact our administrator.

I have tried your suggestion above and the Ping does not seem to work  and get below message

Ping has started…

ping: cannot resolve To connect using RDC from a Mac to a Windows computer:\n\n    Ensure you have network connectivity between the machines. Use the ping command to test.\n    Ensure you have enabled Remote Desktop connections on the Windows computer.\n121.50.209.153:8502: Unknown host.

I have also gone into the preference of RDC and changed the security to Always connect if authentication fails and also kept USER Name and Password blank on the login page.

The computer I am trying to connect to is at a different location , I know it is open to accept RDC as I can access it from my other computer at home which is not a MAC.

Any other ideas as to why it is not connecting???

Answer

I should have asked more questions...sorry.

Have you tried to connect to the Windows computer with the IP address?

Also, what is the OS of the Windows system?

I found some solutions for you to try. They come from here:

http://mac2.microsoft.com/help/office/14/en-us/rdc/item/a776418a-8908-4345-9420-df141247602c?category=ff488916-8b5e-4a0c-af96-37d065645612

Copied from that TS page:

1) Is the Windows-based computer in a domain? If it is not in a domain, please leave the Domain box blank and try to connect.
2) The Windows-based computer might be in a network that requires an IPSec exception for a Mac to connect to it. Ask the system administrator for an IPSec exception. You can also try using the IP address of the computer that you want to connect to instead of the computer name.

Notes:
• You cannot use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to computers running Windows Vista Starter, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Basic N, or Windows Vista Home Premium.

• You cannot use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to computers running Windows XP Home Edition
