Outlook - Chinese characters appearing in messages

Hi,

In our organisation we have a problem with some emails sent from Outlook appears with only Chinese characters with some of the receivers on the Ipad or Iphone.

Latest example: Email sent from Outlook (latest version) on an Iphone to a group in the organisation. Three receivers got only Chinese characters: 㱨瑭氠摩爽≬瑲∾਼桥慤㸊㱭整愠桴瑰ⵥ煵楶㴢䍯湴敮琭呹灥∠捯湴敮琽≴數琯桴浬㬠捨慲獥琽楳漭㠸㔹ⴱ∾਼獴祬攠楤㴢浳ⵯ畴汯潫⵩潳⵳瑹汥∠瑹灥㴢瑥硴⽣獳∾桴浬⁻੢慣歧牯畮搭捯汯爺⁴牡湳灡牥湴㬊紊੢潤礠笊捯汯爺‣㌳㌻੬楮攭桥楧桴㨠ㄵ〥㬊景湴ⵦ慭楬示•ⵡ灰汥⵳祳 (and it continues). All three had read the email on their Iphone or Ipad Mail app (and all are updated with latest versions of the apps). Everybody else read it without any Chinese on their Mac/PC.

Can you help, please? I can see that I am not the only one with this problem.

Hi Lars,

Are the sender's using custom fonts? This can sometimes occur as the device is trying to use a font to display the text

Hi Jordan,

Excellent question - of course that could have an influence.

The Outlook app on Iphone does not appear to give an option for changing fonts, and I have just checked my colleagues Iphone, and it is the custom font.

Hi Lars,

Please turn the custom font off and verify the result.

If the issue is fixed, it should be compatibility issue between the custom font and Chinese characters indeed. Please contact the Outlook Mobile Team through the Help section of the app (in the Settings) so that we can assist you in the best possible way.
