The Next-Gen of Consoles, what's more important?

It is amazing how xbox live experience became what it is now. It used to be just about online gaming but now you can do some many things with the service today. I'm also interested in how they will enhance the experience for next gen.

And i'm not just talking about apps like Facebook & Twitter, even though getting more advanced apps like Youtube or other such things would be very welcome.

I'm interested in how they will better connect us to our games & friends.  And this just isn't only on the console maker's end.  How will the Next-Gen hardware capabilities help Developers create more exciting co-op & multiplayer experiences.

Apart from stuff like graphics and performance, we need the next gen to feel less like dropping everything and jumping on, but rather feel like you're upgrading with loosing anything.

Stuff like your Gamercard and everything associated to it has to come with you. Maybe the possibility of using a Data Tranfer kit to transfer game saves and you profile from the 360 to the new console. The option to use the 360 controllers with the new console would be nice too.

In terms of graphics and so on, devs need to learn that it shouldn't be the focus. The game should look nice but more so because of the style and art design. Though AA should always be good. Nothing worse than jaggies imo.

Thing like AI should be improved and gameplay performance should be the the bigger factor.

While I agree with you, you can't tell me that what really caught your attention with the 360's first generation of games wasn't better, higher resolution graphics running at a buttery smooth framerate. The first generation of games for any system is always just ports of games intended for the last console. Improvements in AI, physics, ect. are nice where they can make them, but what gets everyone's attention is how the game looks.

What I really want to see is better game physics. I want fabrics that tear and blow in the wind, liquids that flow and interact with their surroundings, solids that flex and bend or break depending on how hard you hit them, and all of it to be completely dynamic. Ageia had all this figured out in 2006 with their physx engine and it never went anywhere. The next generation of consoles should be more than capable of doing this.

The graphics are already good enough. I hope the games that come with the new consoles have more going on. And also for Xbox and to a lesser extent on PS3 more people in online games. 16 just is not enough when PC games have had 64 players for the last 8 years. Maybe a way for people to set up dedicated servers.

Better graphics. Seriously. Not Crysis with some photo-realistic mod but something better than this crap. And more RAM, console can be pretty slow. Processor though. I would like enhanced networking the most though.

The next console needs more RAM, high-end graphics card, high-end processor, and at least a 500 GB hard drive.  Using 360 controllers and playing 360 games on the new xbox would be great because we've all invested lots of money into the 360.  If they dont allow 360 controllers, fine but allow 360 games to be played.  Since people have been getting faster and faster connections since the 360 first came out, i think games could have at least 30 players.  I would love to see physics improved along with AI.  Blue-ray is a most have, but if MS finds something even better put that in.  These are just a few of the improvements i would love to have and see.  

MS would be completely out of their minds if they didn't transfer over our Profiles to the next Xbox.  I'd say more than half of the user base wouldn't even move on, just keep playing on the 360.  But considering I did a transfer from Xbox Original to the Xbox 360, it's almost a given that we'll be moving profiles to the next console.

I just don't want to think of how many DRM problems could possibly come out of the transfer.

For me, I want to see much better game development as opposed to improved graphics (which we'll get anyway), improved online or a boatload of fetures that have zero to do with gaming. This past generation has done little more than ushered in extremely dumbed down, cookie-cutter gaming. I want the return of variety, creativity & innovation. I doubt I'll see that though, today's "gamers" just wouldn't get it.

We'll see what's up first when Nintendo comes out with their new product, will it have a more robust network to really get players together on Mario Kart as easily as Xbox gamers play Forza?  Will Sony take their recent debacle to heart & come back with a Network that is more than a background feature.  Will MS make another step forward with the whole gaming community aspect they've been upgrading for years?

Nintendo needs to sufficiently address the online play with the new console and do away with the babysitter attitude we see with the Wii. Mario Kart Wii and Goldeneye are great games to play online but they could be so much better if you could communicate with your opponents/teammates, friend them somehow, etc.., The friend codes are nonsense. Many reviews I've read pertaining to online play complain how you'll play with a few people and have good or bad experiences and most likely never run into them again. What if we want to run into them again because they play well? Sure, the Wii has sold much much better then the 360 or PS3 but if Nintendo wants the new console to be looked upon with some sort of respect, quite a few things need to be addressed and fixed appropriately.
