Skyrim: 1.Clean the disc with a soft cloth 2. Restart the console error and online and offline at random points freezes

Hi - could you provide a bit more detail about your issue? Does it freeze only when in the game, or does it freeze in the menus? Are you able to press the Guide button and get back to the Dashboard? You mention the disc read error - are you getting this every time?

I have had this issue but placed it under section 11 of the forums. I had been playing for a while, did a save and then received this error. The saved games are shown on the HDD however when trying to load a previous game the above error is shown. Cd is new and not scratched, lens has been cleaned and console does load old games from other games also on the HDD. It's odd that several others have all had this issue around the same time frame.

Yea...I got no idea on why this problem occurs.  I play on a 360 S that I bought about 4 months ago and my Skyrim, for the most part, runs great.  I've yet to have any disk read errors or problems with the game saves, but every now and again, during extended gaming sessions, Skyrim will decide it's had enough and decide to freeze up on me.  But I'm always able to reboot the console and load right back up where I left off at.  Let me know if anything is found out about these issues so I can pass the info along and maybe solve my own occasional freezing problems :-)

UPDATE:  I was just looking around the Bethesda forums.  From what I've been reading and the announcements that have been posted, Bethesda has been made well aware of lag, freezing, and corrupted saving.  They have announced that there is a 1.2 patch being released around the week after Thanksgiving to address these problems.  It's also announced that Skyrim is actually optimized to play directly off the disk rather than installing it to the hard drive due to its heavy use of the Xbox 360 caching system.  They are also going to attempt to address that a little in the 1.2 patch update release.

It freezes in the game at random points and yes I can press the guide button and get back to the dashboard. I get the disc error sometimes.  

I just got the same disk unreadable error when trying to load or continue as well.  I ended up copying the latest game save to a USB drive and loading from that and it worked.

I had the issue and have now resolved it, though which bit worked I have no idea. My steps were

1. Clear the cache

2. Deleted the last three auto saves

3. Had the game replaced by vendor

4. Applied the latest patch - last night

same thing happened with black ops. its the disc when you take it out of the case the middle part cracks.i never put my games in the cases anymore and they work fine.
