FIRST! DR1 is better than DR2

I agree somewhat. My only gripe with DR1 is dealing with horrible A.I. survivors while being timed with a very limiting save system. Saving everyone is looking next to impossible. This game is a nightmare for a completionist. However I like a challenge and I only paid $10 for the game so I'm willing to put up with it. I hope Capcom developes a DR3 with better A.I.

I partially agree. DR1 was way too frustrating for someone who feels like they have to fully complete a game. I hate walking away from a game and I pretty much gave up on DR1. I managed to do a lot of DR2 on my first playthrough, but there are several achievements that just can not be done in one play.....like all the weapons achievements and the zombie kills. You definitely run short on time.

Transmissionary was the last achievement I got from DR1 after a million attempts. I still have nightmares of Otis calling in the middle of a horde of zombies. LOL!

But the achievements I didn't even try were 5 and 7 day survivor 'cause you'd have to play for 24+ hours in a row. I'm not brave enough to leave my 360 on when I go to sleep for fear of overheating and RROD.

DR2 extra time: Start a game, dont save anyone including Katey. Let her die and your game is over but you can still play until 10am on day 3. The only thing this doesnt help with is the big kill count what was it 70,000. You need to play story only while killing zombies in your spare time.

Go underground and do the big kill achievment 60,000 or something like that. Complete this and in the safe room will now be a real mega man blaster. You get 300 shots but zombies only take 1  shot to kill. Psychopaths also go down very quickly. The clown goes down in just a couple of shots. Be sparing. If you run out go back to the safe room and get another 300 shots. With this gun you should be able to save anyone. Still gets hard but now you have the power to just mow down a path for your survivors.  There is also an almost unbreakable laser sword. Cant remember what you have to do to get that.

Indeed, the A.I were stupid beyond programming restraints, so the only explanation is that the developers deliberately made them stupid to challenge you; which, makes sense when you think about it. When a zombie hits them they suddenly stop and stay there for 5 seconds crying whilst zombies encircle them, they also generally run from the beaten path - or more accurately their common sense as they are hit usually running from safety not to.

The A.I in Dead Rising 2 are so much easier to handle but generally Dead Rising 1 has it all, the weapons, the story, the system. Just a few things from Dead rising 2 added to the original would make the perfect Dead Rising 3, such as the ability to run while shooting using the Right Trigger and mini-games survivor related activities etc.

The Real Laser Sword is achieved by getting 5- Day Survivor. It appears in the Security Room upon receipt of the achievement, but the Real Mega Buster will only appear in the next game after getting an Ending (even if it's Ending D, which is the last IIRC).

5 and 7-day survival does not bork consoles. Borked consoles will bork regardless. It's no different than playing a marathon session of any other game.

You only need 14 hours total runtime to get 7-Day survivor, not 24. After 24 hours, you're at 12-Days.

I was severely disappointed with DR2. It's almost too "wacky" with TIR, some of the weapons, the bosses- everthing was so extravagant . I know saying that is rich when you can dress up as Megaman in DR while ploughing through a few zombies with a parasol, but DR still has a serious gripping storyline and a serious side to it. The characters also failed to grab my attention in DR2. I dunno, It's just not the same, hard to explain.
