update that just freezes everytime...

basically i have two xboxs... one is a xbox 360 elite which for some reason constantly makes me download some update which gets to installing to xbox then freezes and disconnects my controller and wont do anything... its wont let me eject or anything i can only turn it off, then when i turn it back on an try to sign in it just trys to do the update again and again it fails tryed it atleast 5 times... and longest ive left it running at the moment is 30mins an it doesnt budge one bit on the load bar...

anyhow i tryed plugging in my old xbox and that doesnt have any update and connects and works to xbox live perfectly no problems... any ideas why my main xbox wont just do this update an let me play? and any solutions please!

Your xbox 360 elite is most likely damaged or improperly built, mistakes happen. I would return your current elite for a new one. hope this helped

got the same problem  with a arcade system with hd added.

tried clearing cache, installing update off usb, checked connection status.

install always stalls at 90% finished.

no help from 1800clueless

guess will try putting update on disk and see.

on your old system updates are staggered through the month, it will come, may install fine.

Do you have a disc in the disc tray? I've heard of some users having issues until they removed whatever was inserted into their console.

downloaded update onto cd, when used it says system is up too date,

then when trying live it wants to update, same problem.

spent another 2 hours with support, final result ,

can send in box for repair for $100 since past 1 year warrenty.

they cant do anything remotely.

I suspect that the new update has a problem with my dvd drive, even though its not a cracked dvd drive,  it might not be the original drive that came with system.

update looking harder at dvd drives, bound to get some false postitives errors.

lucky me lol

When you say the drive may not be the original that came with the system, what do you mean exactly? Was it replaced? If so, who replaced it?

I am having the same problem. A nice Elite that plays perfect until the new update, now I cant go online due to it freezing 90% of the way through. No soultion yet...

Hooked up my old RRoD arcade and was able to get the update, then moved the HDD over to the elite but it still asked for the update..
