Migrating accounts

I don't think you can migrate an account to another region, but you can try by giving Xbox Support a call.

If they cannot do it, then just make a new gamertag for using features like Foxtel and keep this gamertag for you to play and gain gamerscore.

Yea that's probably what I will have todo, bit of a shame really, I'll ring xbox tho just to check if there is some way they could change my account.

Support is at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX in case you did not know. I'm not sure if its a different number for Australia so just give that phone line a try.  

If you live in one of the nine newly added regions to XBL you can do an ACCOUNT MIGRATION. However Australia is not one of them. So you will need to create an AUSTRALIAN XBL account. So long as you don't change consoles the accounts can share content, avatar items excluded.

Calling support will not help you in this case.

I am in exactly the same situation (moved from NZ to Perth). The crap thing is that you have to get a gold account on the Aus xbox account you have just made. One thing I have just noticed is that if you make a quick new xbox account in australia you can open up the foxtel app from there. Then when you are in the foxtel application; use the xbox button on your controller, sign out of that australian account, then sign in with your NZ live account, and you are still in the foxtel application. You can view the sample channel. So it then just depends on if you can purchase foxtel through your NZ account. Because that is just a way to get on the foxtel application on your NZ account
