Security Update for Windows XP (KB2686509) will not install
Update kb268509 will not install. I get no error message #, i tried the msconfig selective startup and disable all Microsoft services under services tab,and i get BIG red X saying failed check c:\windows\kb268509.log, I have searched my computer,microsoft,web
for the failed message # and nothing.Please help been trying everything i could find for problem including microsoft fix it and no help with problem. Thanx for any help.Paul

Please open your Control Panel > Add or remove programs feature, and check that all other Windows XP Security Updates for May 2012 (i.e. KB2676562+KB2695962+KB2659262) are all listed there. If only KB2686509 is missing (not listed as installed) you can
go to your Windows Directory and search for a logfile named:
faultykeyboard.log
You can now go to This Thread(KB2686509 repeatedly fails with Error code 0x8007F0F4) where you have the following 3 alternatives to solve this problem:
1) Look for the 2º marked "Answer" Post (from Christian S.) and try to run his new VB Script (at your own risk - if any) as described therein,
OR...
2) Look for the 1º marked "Answer" Post (from Susan B.) and try to determine which of those scenarios are you in. So far there are - at least - three different error types that would make the KB2686509 update to fail with error code 0x8007f0f4,
OR Alternatively - If neither the above works...
3) Try to contact Susan Bradley (email provided in same mentioned thread) as she is kindly offering her assistance in respect of this update's failure to install - as long as you found your faultykeyboard.log file.
