windows 8 tiles not opening

I have windows 8, I had a problem with the tiles not opening from day one, some of the tiles open but some do not. They start to open when clicked on but then revert back to tiles page without opening. I had a tech support agent take over my computer for 3 hours a while back and attempt to fix this. He did by giving my computer a new name and reloading all of my information. However it is doing this again, and basically renders the tiles uesless I just use the desktop page because the tiles do not work. I am disappointed though because I paid for windows 8 and I want it to work properly.

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community forums.

From the issue description, I see that Metro App tiles are not working on Windows 8.

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

To resolve this issue I may need some more information:
1. Do you get any error messages?

Method 1:
Let's first try to run the Modern UI App troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Method 2:
Let's first check to make sure screen resolution is set to 1024X768. Minimum screen resolution for modern UI Apps to work is 1024X768.

Method 3:
If the second method didn't fix the issue check if UAC (User accounts settings) is enabled or not.
a) Press ‘Windows + W’ key to search Settings.
b) Type UAC in the search bar.
c) Click to open User accounts settings.
d) Drag the slide to "Always notify".

Method 4:
If the issue persists you may run SFC (System File Checker) scan and check if it helps.

a. Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.
b. Type “cmd” in the Run screen.
c. Right-click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
d. Type the following command and press Enter:
sfc /scannow

Restart the computer
and check with the issue, if the issue persists follow the next method.
